Who Are we?
The Scottish Guild of Removers is an organization that has been created to promote a reliable and professional program of excellence for the removals industry in Scotland. Our members provide removals and storage solutions across Scotland, but also for removals to and from England, Wales, Ireland, Europe and the rest of the world.
Background
In 2021 a number of The Scottish based removal companies, which were and are in Membership of The National Guild of Removers & Storers (NGRS), expressed a wish that NGRS look into starting a removals trade association with a wholly Scottish identity. The result of that request is the launch of The Scottish Guild of Removers which will be financed and managed by NGRS.
In fact NGRS had been looking for the support it needed to launch such an association since 2004 when it registered the name The Scottish Guild of Removers & Storers Ltd with Companies House.
Experienced And An Ethos of Consumer Protection
NGRS have a thirty year pedigree of operating a trade association with an impeccable record of being in the forefront of consumer protection in the removals industry. That same ethos of consumer protection, linked to quality service provided by Members to their customers, is now incorporated into The Scottish Guild of Removers.
NGRS were the first to introduce a code of practice and ongoing quality monitoring schemes into the removals industry and their main consumer protection achievement was the founding of The Removals Industry Ombudsman Scheme, launched in 2001 which they continue to fund.
For the ultimate protection of consumers in the unregulated removals industry all Members of The Scottish Guild of Removers will need to become Members of The Removals Industry Ombudsman Scheme and sign a contract that binds them to complying with any award made by The Ombudsman.
High Standards
The Scottish Guild of Removers will limit Membership and only accept applications from removal businesses that meet its high standards.
